Torchys Taco

Located: 1929 Broadway, Nashville, TN 37203

Walking into Torchy’s, the environment immediately felt welcoming—clean, friendly, and relaxed—though the space was not overly busy at the time. One area that could use improvement is attentiveness upon arrival; I had to get someone’s attention to be served, so ensuring guests feel acknowledged right away would elevate the experience.

I chose to sit at the bar, where the bartender provided excellent service. He was personable, knowledgeable, and even shared some insight into Nashville’s lifestyle and scenery, which added a nice local touch to the visit.

For food, I ordered the Shrimp Taco, Salmon Taco, rice and beans, and a house frozen margarita. The Shrimp Taco was the standout—crispy, flavorful, and perfectly complemented by its sauce, earning a solid 8/10. The Salmon Taco, while fresh, lacked seasoning and depth of flavor, making it more of a 6/10. The rice and beans, enhanced with corn and tomato, were a satisfying side at 7/10. The house margarita, though refreshing, was slightly watered down and also rated a 7/10.

Overall, I would rate the experience a 7/10. For the $70 spent (before tip), the meal felt fair, with the Shrimp Taco being the highlight worth returning for. Torchy’s provides a nice dining experience, but more consistent guest engagement and stronger seasoning in some dishes would make it truly exceptional and more memorable.

Anaya’s Seafood

Located 15203 Knoll Trail Dr #110 Far North Dallas, TX 75248

Upon entering Anaya Seafood, there was no host at the front, and it took a moment before someone came from around the corner to seat us. With only one other guest inside, the environment felt quiet, though not particularly engaging. We were seated in a booth, and when asked about drinks, we requested a moment—but it took nearly five minutes before our server returned. When I asked about specials, I was told it was happy hour. While helpful, the service felt somewhat dismissive and rushed throughout the visit.

I ordered a house margarita and water, followed by salmon and shrimp tacos from the happy hour menu. The food was the highlight of the experience: the shrimp tacos were fresh, well-seasoned, and flavorful, while the salmon tacos were equally well-prepared. The fries served alongside were hot and crispy, complementing the meal nicely. Despite the quality of the food, the watered-down margarita and lack of attentive service detracted from the overall dining experience. We decided not to order dessert as a result.

Anaya Seafood delivered in terms of food quality, but the dining experience could be significantly improved with more attentive service and better drink preparation.
